I feel like your personal style journey is never ending, but there’s a difference between finding constant inspiration and not knowing what your style is. It happens, especially after we pass the awkward phase of our lives. But don’t worry, there’s hope in finding what works for you and I have some tips!
Thrifting gives you the chance of experimenting with different styles of clothing for a very low price. This way you don’t have to feel too bad about spending a lot of money on something you’re not 100% sure you’re going to love! I’m honestly obsessed with thrifting and I’d choose it over going to the mall any day.
When you think of an outfit, pull it from your closet and take a picture on your phone. Now when you’re at a loss for what to wear, all you have to do is pull out your phone! Also, take pictures of people and things that you’re attracted to and could help you in creating outfits.
Not only are mood boards fun to make, but they’re such a great way to get a concept in your head out! You’ll have a visual of what you’re thinking of and you can pull outfits from different sources and put them on your mood boards.
The biggest thing when trying to find your personal style is to find inspiration. Look at celebrities who’s style your love, colors that make you happy, places that you think are beautiful. There is inspiration everywhere that can give you ideas for outfits, not just in clothing!
Make sure you have your basics like blue jeans, a black tee, nude pumps, etc. Having essential items in your wardrobe will give you a solid building block for figuring out outfits and what pleases your eye.
Don’t worry if it’s taking you a while to figure it out. There’s so many different ideas of what’s “stylish” and what we “should” be wearing so it can get confusing. As long as you stay true to yourself and take it easy, you’ll find comfort in your style eventually.
Confidence is key! Don’t listen to those people who say you have to be a certain weight to wear a crop top or that your skin tone doesn’t go with a certain color scheme. As long as you are confident and love what you’re wearing, that’s all that matters. Just own it!
