Things to be Happy About Pt. 5

It’s that time of the month again… no not that one, I’m talking about the one where we talk about all the things to be happy about! I just think it’s so important to be mindful and take time to realize all the little things in our lives that we should be grateful for. Sure there’s the obvious things like friends, family, and health, but sometimes when we’re down in the dumps it’s the little things that really pull us through; which is why I love making these lists so much!

1. Art

Isn’t it insane how talented people are, and how they produce all this amazing art??? I am infatuated with art, and literally feel immense happiness simply appreciating it. Let’s not forget, art comes in all shapes and sizes like paintings, music, books, fashion, etc. There are so many creative outlets that produce some of the most beautiful things and if that’s not something that makes you smile then we need to have a serious talk!

2. Working out

Hey, don’t roll your eyes at me! I know this might not be up everyone’s alley, but personally, I genuinely love working out. I make sure to do it 5-6 times a week and it really is a peaceful and fun time for me. Working out is a great stress reliever and an awesome way to make you feel like a warrior woman or man! It might be tough to get up and start but once you’re in the zone I think we can all agree that there’s no better feeling than that first drip of sweat letting you know you’re killing it! Whether it’s HIIT, yoga, kick boxing, cycling, or lifting, there’s something for everyone. Besides, exercise actually causes our bodies to release endorphins which in return make us happier, so get off your booties every one in a while and hit it hard with a smile!

3. Shutter clicks

You’re probably thinking… wait, what? But yep you read that right, shutter clicks! That little sound your camera makes when you snap a picture is one of the most satisfying little noises ever! Every time I’m taking photos of someone or something, I just love the sound it makes.

4. Baggy T-Shirts

Oh yeah, these are forever a keeper. Whether you’re wearing some random big ‘ol t-shirt you got at high-school event, or styling one in a super chic outfit, you know they’re the best thing ever. I just love throwing on a baggy t-shirt and feeling super comfy throughout the day. So remember never to take your baggy t-shirt days for granted because you know they’re awesome!

5. Perfectly ripe melon

There is nothing that makes me happier than cutting open a melon in the morning and digging my spoon into it only to be surprised by a very deliciously sweet and juicy breakfast! Watermelons and cantaloupes are some of my favorite things to have for breakfast so taking that first bite of the perfect melon just instantly puts a smile on my face and makes my day! Also a little tip: melons are best eaten alone, and in the morning before you’ve had any other foods for optimal digestion!

6. When the subway/train doors stop right in front of you

I’m always on the train coming and going to the city so I like to play this little game with myself to see if the doors will stop right in front of where I’m standing. I know it might sound silly, but try it sometime! You can’t tell me that if you’re standing in just the right spot that it won’t put at least a little smirk on your face.

7. Perfectly clean twist of an Oreo

I think we can all agree on this one! My favorite way to eat Oreo’s (yes they’re vegan!) is to twist off the cookie and eat it, and then take off the middle to have it last because it’s obviously the best part! I feel super fabulous when I twist it off and I get a clean cookie with a perfectly smooth center!

8. Crunchy leaves

This has to be one of the best parts of fall! I’m definitely one of those people that tries to step on all the crunchy leaves in my path and I’m not ashamed to admit it! It makes me feel like a little kid again and there’s something so satisfying about hearing that crunch sound.

9. Holidays lights

This is my all time favorite thing about the holiday season. I love driving around and looking at all the pretty houses that have lights illuminating them. My parents and I will even drive some distance to see insanely decorated houses because they’re just beautiful!

10. Cereal

I think this is a universal thing we can all agree on. What would life truly be like without cereal? It’s perfect for any time of the day and is such a fabulous go to. I’m a sucker for a bowl of cereal occasionally, even without milk sometimes. I just feel like we all need a good bowl of cereal every once in a while. My favorite lately has been Sprout & Shine from Back to Nature. With three simple ingredients it amazes me how delicious this stuff is, you seriously have to head to your local grocery store and give it a try!

xoxo, Caroline
